Breadcrumbs
New Zealanders throw out 15,174 tonnes of bread each year totally to $62,589,400! GASP!!!!!
Read more about it on Love Food Hate Waste.
If we all help pitch in by using up bits of bread here and there that we would normally throw out then we start reducing this waste. I freeze odds and ends of bread then use them to make breadcrumbs.

You will need:
Clean hands
Cake rack/Oven tray
Toaster
Blender/Food processor
Sterilised repurposed jars (if storing) or airtight container
Bread – toasted in a toaster or in the oven (at fan bake 180°C till golden) on an oven tray to do larger volumes; essentially, you are drying it out.
Allow to cool: it’s helpful if you have a cake rack to cool your toasted bread on.
Once cold, whizz up in a blender or food processor.
Store in an airtight container. I use sterilised old jars and pull out to use for all sorts of recipes. Or you can pop a reusable Ziploc bag in the freezer, although you can freeze in jars.
Storage:As a general rule they keep fresh for two weeks in the pantry, a month or so in the fridge, and six months in the freezer.
